A discount dental plan is an alternative to dental insurance.  These are NOT insurance plans, but, rather, are benefits provided on a discounted basis by groups of dentists who have joined various discount dental networks.  Generally, these plans cost between $80-$145 for an individual and $110-$200 for a family for 15 months.

There are approximately 15 plans available in Florida on the linked site in the next paragraph, depending on the ZIP code where you live.  These plans are relatively inexpensive, and, if you can find a dentist that is a member of one of the networks, can possibly be an attractive alternative to insurance.  One of the advantages is that there often are no waiting periods for basic and restorative surgery, and there usually are no annual maximums, like there are for insured dental plans.  Again, these are not dental insurance. With most plans, participating dentists agree to accept discounted fees in accordance with schedules published by the plan.

There are three easy steps to follow and you can enroll right over the site.  Step 1 is to enter your ZIP code.  Step 2 is to pick and compare plans and to check the dentists and schedules provided by each plan.  There are three searches you can conduct in this step:  (1) find plans for your area; (2) find participating dentists; and (3) compare available plans.  Click Join by the name of a particular plan to join.
